Make sure your voice is heard by exercising your right to vote! If you are 18 years of age and an American citizen, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE! 

Remember: Every vote counts and every election counts – from your local county or town, to state and national elections.

THERE ARE 3 WAYS TO VOTE IN NORTH CAROLINA:

Early voting offers many advantages: shorter (if any) lines, and you can register and vote at the same time. Early voting will provide any voter that has a problem with the time needed to sort things out to ensure their vote counts. COVID-19 protections will be in place at all voting sites. Find a location near you here.

  • ABSENTEE/VOTE-BY-MAIL is possible in North Carolina for any registered voter; no special circumstances are required. And, for many who feel concerned about COVID-19 issues, it offers added protection.

  • However, funding for the U.S. Postal Service has been cut and slowdowns in delivery and transit time are already noted. This raises the key issue of timeliness of absentee ballots. SO, if you plan to VOTE BY MAIL, DON’T WAIT! You should request your vote-by-mail ballot right away. To request a NC State Absentee Ballot Request Form, go to this link or find more info at organgecountnc.gov/1082/Board-of-Elections. Democracy NC suggests that absentee/vote-by-mail ballots be at the Board of Elections no later than 10/20/2020 to ensure delivery. If you live in another state, go to the website for your county’s Board of Elections to request an absentee ballot.

This is an option and many folks enjoy the practice of voting on Election Day. However, long lines are anticipated and although COVID-19 protections will be in place, it’s hard to know to what extent. Also, if any voter has a problem on Election Day, it is likely that most problems may not be resolved, and your vote therefore would not be counted.
